A: The TUBCUT™ is an adaptive tub conversion. In less than a day it creates easier, step-thru access in the front of any existing fiberglass, acrylic, steel or cast iron bathtub.
The TUBCUT™ opening is made with one-half inch thick panels that are shaped right on the job-site for a custom fit. The panels become structurally part of the tub with our strong bonding process. The panels are made of a durable material that is easy to clean. And the tub color is matched perfectly to the panel's edge for a seamless look.
Once installed, the bathtub can only be used as a shower, since there is no door.
Q: Why is your product better than the competition?
A: Our competitors use plastic caps or one-piece inserts. Those products are typically attached to the tub with caulk only. And since they are pre-formed, caps have a fixed width and a fixed depth of only nine inches or so. That means if your tub is nineteen inches tall, your step-up will still be ten inches.
Our product can reach to the bottom of the deepest tub, and can be made as wide or narrow as needed for the situation.
Even soaking tubs, whirlpools, decked-mounted and tiled-in tubs are no problem.
And if The TUBCUT™ is no longer needed, it can be easily RESTORED. Saving the tub's cut-out section can preserve the option to restore the tub to its original condition. Most caps or one-piece inserts don't allow your original tub to be restored.
Q: Do you offer a door so that the tub can still be used as a tub?
A: Not at this time. But there are also a few things to consider with the use of a door. There are doors that swing into the tub which means that the bather will have to move themselves out of the way of the door in order to open it or close it. Once in the tub, the bather must wait until the tub fills with water to take the bath and then wait again for it to drain before they can open the door and exit. There are reports that many seniors have complained about having to wait through this process and it can also cause them to get cold. In addition, on these types of door installations, the latch mechanism is also on the inside and may present a potential hazard as well.
There are also larger tubs on the market built on a taller profile, some with outward opening doors and some with inward opening doors. As stated, these are usually on tubs that are much taller, allowing the bather to sit on a seat molded into the tub. But here again, the bather must wait until the water level rises all the way up to the body before being able to take advantage of the warm water to bathe. Typically, these types of tubs also require the use of a lot more water because of their vertical profile and more water translates also into more gas or electricity to heat it in addition to the added cost of the additional water. These factors may strain the senior’s budget.
Q. How long has the TubcuT been offered?
A. The TubcuT™ was the very first conversion product on the market, introduced in 1993. The products that have followed are the tubs with doors and the cap or saddle. The door tubs are EXTREMELY expensive and somewhat uncomfortable to use.
1. doesn’t fit the tub and can leak
2. often cannot be installed in a metal tub
is very shallow not really providing the low entry people need and most importantly,
the cap cannot be reversed.
Craig & Carol have owned and operated a custom home building and remodeling business for over 30 years. A number of years ago, the needs of an elderly parent led Craig on a path to find a solution for accessibility issues, in particular, easy & safe access to a bathtub. After several weeks searching, the perfect solution was found in the TubCut™ product and process. After a number of conversations with the inventor, developer and owner of Access Designs, Inc., the home of The TubcuT™, Craig recognized that there was a need within the growing senior community as well as within the handicapped community and others with special needs for this product. Because of his years of experience in seeking out quality and innovative products and ideas for his custom homes, he was convinced that this was the premier product offering a proven, affordable and safe solution for these groups of people. His desire to be able to be of help to them moved him to become a Certified Dealer/Installer for the TubCut™ product.
Carol’s background in administrative support and working with people enables her to reach out to the seniors, retirement community facilities and organizations serving the senior community. She is able to provide an educational base of solutions to enable seniors to be able to stay in their homes longer, as well as enable facilities and communities to provide safe access to bathtubs. Having been a caregiver, her concern is extended to the caregivers as well as there are often physical obstacles to providing care safely, sometimes putting the caregiver at risk of stress and physical strain or injury. Providing solutions for these obstacles will reduce that risk factor for both the client and the caregiver.
A nationwide telephone survey of 2,000 midlife and older Americans, conducted by the AARP has found that 67% of those making changes or modifications to their homes believe doing so will allow them to live there longer than they would have otherwise been able to - most for another 10 or more years and it is our purpose and desire to be able to assist older Americans in realizing this goal. To that end, we desire to enable our clients to become more self-sufficient, confident and safe in their own homes.
We are here to serve families during a difficult time by offering solutions that will make life easier for the client and the caregiver.
When you use our services you are receiving more than a product and an installation, but the experience of a company whose background is in custom home and remodeling construction, which provides extensive experience well suited to these applications. Building custom homes and remodeling homes has provided extensive experience in working with individuals and understanding their needs and desires with the goal of finding the best and most affordable way to accomplish them.

I just thought that you might like to know about the many compliments you get when people see my tub that you did. I did have it repainted white after we finished the other bathroom. I am still slowly remodeling the house and every time I take someone in there to show them what I want done, they comment on what a good job you did and ask who did it. Sure hope you will get some business from this. I'm going to have the floors tiled and replace the commode soon. I'll send a picture when that happens.
The only thing that you probably won't like is the fact that even the opening is white. I know that you said you were not allowed to paint it the same color due to the possible danger of tripping. I'm thinking that some day maybe I can put a new runner over the old one and it would show up better. For the present it's fine. Vic uses the back shower since it has been repaired. so I don't have to worry about him tripping.
Thanks again for the tub cut. It really saved me some problems and allowed us to get the other work done quicker.
Dear Mr. Cortright...
My wife and I are very pleased with the TUB CUT solution to access our tub. We think it is the best and most economical way to go. All we have to do is slide the shower curtain closed and no leaks. Also no door and door seals to worry about. My wife said she would not be able to get along with out it. We would recommend it to anyone that has trouble getting into the tub.
"Since having TubCut installed, I feel much more secure when entering or leaving the tub.
When you look at the workmanship of installing the TubCut, you know that it was done by a person who knew his job and did it, very professionally."
I am extremely thrilled with the bath tub cut down (TubCut™). I have artificial knees and it was a chore to get in and out the way it was. Now it is a piece of cake! Thank you so much Christian Village for having this conveniente done. I appreciate all you do for us.

I am 4’9”. So this (the TubCut™) is very nice to get into the tub and out without falling. With a great grab bar too. Thank you very much.

To whom it may concern:
I’m writing about my bath tub cut down. I need to tell someone, because it is a blessing for me not to have to pull, and step over that tub to get in and out – It was really to high for me – Before the tub was cut I just dreaded (bath time). Some times I’d just go to my friends house and bathe- I’ve fallen several times trying to climb out – That was a hassle seeing that I’ve had 2 major back surgeries – a left knee replaced, major neck surgery – and I’m 61 years old. It’s been hard.
My tub getting cut down – is a joy and blessing for me. I can get my shower in peace – knowing I can just step right in – and out. No more scuffling – to get in and out – This is the way to go.
Thank you all
I am very happy with my TubCut. I have a hip replacement and it is so much easier getting into my tub & having a shower chair. Craig Cortright did a great job cleaning up. I just feel so much safer now.
I really like the Tub Cut because it is so easy to walk into when a person has arthritis. I really enjoy it.

In regards to the “Tub Cut” – it’s great, I do not fear of falling anymore. I have fallen so many times in the past. I have torn cartilage in both knees, plus I have arthritis in both knees, I am a lung cancer survivor, heart patient, two stints in heart, will be 87 May the fifth.
So many here in The Christian Village are so happy with the TubCut. Thanks. Be happy to advertise for you anytime.
The tub looks very nice & is very easy to get in. Just be sure your shower curtain reaches to the bottom so you don’t have a wet floor.
Since I got my bathtub fixed into a walk in shower. I enjoy it so much, it’s safe, not afraid of falling. Just walk in and walk out.
Craig Cortright, he did such a nice clean job. He was nice and friendly and everything went so well.

provides easier access for existing tubs by creating a step-through in the front of the tub. The TubcuT™ threshold is approximately 4” above the floor giving you easier, safer access to your tub, unlike the one piece insert. Installed as an integral part of the tub, not a cap, The TubcuT™ has a seamless, factory appearance and is installed in less than one day. Save the cut-out section and the tub can be restored to original condition.
The TubcuT™ has a life time material warranty backed by the manufacturer.
